The photographic campaign, entrusted by the municipality of Altivole to the photographer Giovanni Cecchinato, was intended to document the state of the work before the important conservation work directed by architect Guido Pietropoli.
The documentary campaign provided material for an exhibition curated by Stefano Volpato entitled Around the Brion Tomb. Carlo Scarpa and the landscape, which has been hosted at the Museo Casa Giorgione in Castelfranco Veneto (TV) since 28 May 2017.
Significant was the exhibition’s display of Carlo Scarpa’s plaquette Memoriae Causa; it constitutes an important element of comparison between the monument at its origin and what was achieved with the conservative restoration project.
Through the photographs of Giovanni Cecchinato, the exhibition emphasises the passage of time not only inside the mausoleum, but also in the surrounding landscape.
